The Orange Wedding Theme

Among the many color themes popular among brides and grooms, the orange wedding theme remains a favorite. Until just a few years ago, orange was not a color commonly seen on brides or their bridesmaids. Now more and more brides are looking to incorporate orange in its varying tones into the color scheme of the wedding.

The orange wedding color scheme works exceptionally well for summer and fall weddings. The shade depends largely on the season. Summer brides are using either fuchsia or coral in the pink family with orange. For three-tone color schemes, a bright yellow or lime is often added to the pinks and orange wedding colors. Lilac and lavender can are sometimes added to the summer orange color scheme.

Fall brides using an orange wedding theme use burnt orange (persimmon). Brown, sage or olive green and burgundy are striking compliments as well as gold and cream colors, taupe, navy blue and plum. The burnt orange wedding color scheme is one of the most striking and rich wedding color schemes.

When selecting the flowers used in your bouquet, you can select from orange calla lilies or gerbera daisies in the summer or burnt orange  mini calla lilys or roses for autumn weddings. The summer orange wedding bouquet can use long-stem fuchsia calla lilies or lime green spider mums or button pom poms as accents. There are numerous flower choices for autumn accent colors, depending on which accent you select.

When you finalize your selection in the shade of orange you will use and the accent colors used alongside the orange, carry the color theme throughout your wedding. Your centerpieces, bridesmaids dresses, wedding cake, bouquet, napkins and favors can all carry an element of the color scheme. While an orange wedding incorporates bold colors, it is important to make sure you are subtle in your boldness. To say that wearing an orange wedding dress, using orange tablecloths and using orange tulle is an overkill, would be an understatement! Use clean white lines with just a few color accents. At the reception, for instance, use crisp white tablecloths and napkins. For the centerpiece, fill a glass container with lemons and limes if using yellow and green. Or, for a fall wedding, use pumpkins or mums in your color scheme as the centerpiece.

Going with an orange theme allows for creativity and unique expression while hinting at a flair for the dramatic. While it is becoming more and more popular, the orange wedding theme hasn’t yet hit the tipping scales of done too much. Orange is a color that can be used to create a beautiful and yet unique statement at your wedding.
